a foundation built on truth

Unless the foundation of your relationships is built on sharing truths, the relationship won’t develop the emotional depth to sustain it. When we are ruthlessly honest with ourselves on this and take an inventory to see how many current relationships are built on half-truths and withholds, we’ll likely be appalled by how many foundations are fractured.

Which leaves two choices: to put in the time to make the repairs (share truths and dig into the pain that gets stirred up) or continue to contribute to an already fractured base (with more surface level interactions and conversations that go to the edge, but not to deep truths). The first is scary and requires faith, but the possibility it opens for relationships is worth the imagined fallout, experienced flood of emotions, and the eventual equilibrium.
