Growth
Change
Passion
Creativity
Trustworthiness
Strength of relationships
Quality of life
The easiest way to “measure” these things is to evaluate ourselves against ourselves. In fact, it might be the only way. Which is a reminder that most things in life are “inside jobs” and primarily about our relationship with our Selves.
When I look back at my last decade, the thing that stands out the most is that I’m learning how to make shifts in all of these “squishy” things. And I know I can be even more intentional about creating what I want.
Did I grow more today than I did yesterday? Did I strengthen my relationships more this month than last month? Do I love my life more today than last week?
And when the answer is “No”, which it will be sometimes, I can create something different.

Some Things I Read Last Week:
- Esther Perel: How’s Work (audio) “Each of us has a relationship resume (“relational dowry”) that is cultivated at home – in our families, our communities, and our romantic lives – that influences the way we interact with our colleagues at work.”
- NYT: The 2010s Were the End of Normal “The biggest casualty of the decade was trust.”
