the problem with back seat driving

The problem with driving from the back seat is that it is impossible to have all the information or access you need to effectively drive.

The view of the road ahead is obscured by the headrests and there is no way to properly situate yourself to see out the rearview mirror well enough to have any proper commentary on what’s coming up behind. The best you can do is crane your neck all the way around and lose complete visibility of the direction you are heading.

There are alternative options to back seat driving. You could decide to enjoy the ride. Or be an engaged passenger, supporting the driver without overrunning them. You could also offer to switch seats.
