Positional power is pseudo-power. It has weight because we (society) have decided it does. We (society) have given certain titles, jobs, money more positional power (status). Positional power (or lack of it) makes us say things like, “I feel powerless”. But this actually isn’t possible. Power is “an ability”, specifically the ability to do work or influence.
When we go back to the definition, power is not something that can be taken away or given away. It’s an intrinsic capacity, which means our power expands when we become more of ourselves. And when we focus on growing into who we are meant to become, the status of positional “power” also starts to erode.
