judgment: how to make good decisions again and again

  1. Zero in on the actual problem.
  2. Look for gaps in information.
  3. Pay particularly close attention to what is not being said or done.
  4. Notice where your own emotions and personal biases are skewing your ability to see the situation clearly. Get them on the table.
  5. Play out the unintended consequences, especially if you think you already know them.
  6. Pause. Is the solution addressing the real issue?
