Gossip is an attempt to meet a deeper need / desire, typically the desire to be seen or to be valued.
More often than not though, our gossip ends up letting us down. We might feel a temporary high from vocalizing what’s on our mind. But it’s always short lived. It’s short lived because gossip is pseudo-intimacy. It’s an act of sharing something that appears to be deep and vulnerable, but is about someone else or something else.
If we want to be seen and valued, we have to risk sharing something that matters to us and is about ourselves. It is vulnerable, but anything else is pseudo-intimacy.
