Our stories are not the truth with a capital T. Our stories are the little things we decide to believe, the anecdotes that fit the way we see the world. Typically we’re pretty committed to telling and retelling them. Or at least we are habituated to retelling them.
Often we’ll add layers (“facts” and new “information) that add a new layer to our story, even if it isn’t the Truth.
Choose to feed your story if you’d like to, but know that this might be at the expense of really seeing what is true.
And the alternative? Asking: what is the story I’m telling myself right now?
